Across a Sunless Sea

A presence announced.
Before the eyes
Even meet the sound,
A rasping sigh
Whispers
And resonates
Through the night.

Suns glitter
And illuminate.
The pathway glowing dimly,
As a silent twin strides
Beside this walker.

Finally,
The shore is shown.
An abandoned ghost town
Of parasols
And deck chairs.
Memories of the earlier light.

Now it’s empty,
And she sits and
Watches.
White stallions
Pound the shore,
Galloping proudly
Across a sunless sea.

Fearless
In the face of their demise.
Proud and noble,
As the moon
Is smothered.
