A horrendous roar
Shatters the softly settling silence.
Echoes and rings
Across the skyline,
Pushes the air aside.
Some sick fascination,
As his heart split
And unfolded right
Before my eyes.
Like some sort of flower,
In a parody of spring.
Roses bubbled forth,
Blossoming on his shirt.
A heartstain dripping down.
Shaky legs gave way,
As he curved towards the ground.
Lie in my arms now,
I'll give you an anchor.
A focus.
As the edges of your vision
Blur and liquefy,
Keep your eyes on my stricken face.
I'll be there until it all goes black,
I promise you.
